Boston Singing: Well, Sort Of.

Boston 3/25/11. Here is a quick video of him singing and dreaming. He usually sings way better than this, but I can never get my camera in time to catch it. Ignore my "baby" voice. You might have to turn it up a bit to hear him in certain parts.

Our Third Week: In Pictures

I did a whole lot of nothing this week. Well I did a lot of keeping up around the house and loving on my baby, but I haven't accomplished anything else. How is it that I have less laundry sitting on my floor now than I did before he was born? Maybe it's the mother in me, but I have to have the laundry done and put neatly away. We'll see just how long that lasts. I can't believe Boston is already 3 weeks old. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago, then again it does. It's hard to remember my life without him! It's even hard for me to remember what it was like to be pregnant, so weird.

He's still a super good baby. He did get a pretty bad cold sometime last weekend and we had a few rough nights, mostly my waking to make sure he was breathing okay. I hate that he was so congested! He's feeling much better now and actually slept 6 straight hours last night! I felt horrible that I didn't wake up even once in that time to make sure he was okay, but he was. I hate that he has to sleep in a dirty diaper so long! I can't wait to get him into the cloth diapers. He doesn't have a diaper rash at all, but he has a beet red butt almost constantly. After his baths, I like to leave him naked in the towel for awhile to let that lil heiney air out and come back to a normal shade of pink.

Boston and his cousin Kiley

He had his 2 week doctor appointment on Tuesday and he was 7 lbs 14 oz!! His upper legs and arms no longer look like someone let the air out of his tires, he's fattening up! I'm so glad he's doing so well with breast feeding. I was so worried that it wouldn't work out, just because I wanted it to so badly. We both took to it pretty quickly.

If you haven't noticed yet, I think I have a major problem. I can't stop taking pictures of him! If you're my friend on Facebook, I'm sure you're getting sick of my daily picture assaults in the live feed! I not only take the pictures for myself, but for family that doesn't live close that wants to see him every day. I feel really bad that my mom can't see him whenever she wants. She's been lucky to live very close to her other grandkid, Kiley and gets to see her all the time. I think it breaks her heart not to be able to be near him, especially with him growing so fast right now. We will be making a trip to Libby either next weekend or the next. I can't wait to hit up the Amish store and a few second hand stores. I'll be in the zone! I also can't wait for my grandma to finally get to meet him.

Okay, I think I've made this long enough. There are more pictures on my Flickr.

The Big Checklist: Even Though He's Here...

Even though Boston has been here for almost three weeks (has it really been that long already?!) I am still not done with everything in his room! We are really getting there though. Here's my ongoing big checklist. Not much left to cross off!

Photobucket

- Cut and hem curtains and add elephants
- Install curtain rod and hang curtains
- Put crib together
- Paint all picture frames, frame art and hang.
- Make crib skirt
- Make crib quilt (contingent on crib measurements once it's set up)
- Make pillows
- Put up shelves (this one might be awhile, I got the wrong brackets at Ikea)

Here is the list of things still to get:

- Crib Mattress pad
- Moby wrap
- Burp Rags
- Wet bags for diapers
- Newborn grooming supplies
- Non-baby looking diaper bag
- Night light

I've been working on cutting out the quilt blocks every week when we go to my in-laws for dinner. It seems that when I'm at home I don't want to work on it for some reason. Maybe I'll get a fire lit under me and get them all cut out so that I can just start sewing, that's the fun/easy part. Cutting them out sucks! I've worn a horrible line into my cutting mat. It means I have to run the rotary cutter over and over and over the fabric to cut it. I only have about 6 different prints (6 blocks per print) left to cut out, so I got that going for me.

Ryan's mom finished the crib skirt. I have to iron it and get it "installed" in the crib and then that's finished. I can't wait to see the crib all put together with the bedding! I guess the only hang up now is my getting that quilt done!

As for his shelves. I realllly want to get this done. I have 2 options. Either have Ryan's brother's family that's coming up from Astoria sometime in May make an Ikea run and get the right sized shelf, or have Ryan custom make something. Either way, it will be nice to get them up! There is a lot of stuff hiding in drawers ready to be put out!

Closet and Drawerganization

I've had this post ready to go for quite some time, I just forgot to post it. So here is the before and after of Boston's closet.

Here's the closet before any painting or shelves.

Chock full of 0-3month clothing! The stuff in the tote drawers will go on his shelves when those are done.

Also, here's a peek into a few of his dresser drawers. I just love little baby shoes and socks!

I still have a long way to go to get enough cloth diapers! He should be able to start wearing them in about a month, I can't wait!

Our Second Week: In Pictures

I've been slacking just a bit in the blog department. I have a ton of updates, but no time to update these days it seems! Boston and I have both been sick with a bad cold. I can handle my being sick, but seeing him struggle to breath through the congestion in his nose just hurts my heart! I wish I could just take his pain away but I can't!

Here here's a glimpse of the fun we had last week:

Thanks Kiley!

Boston's cousin Kiley (well Aunt Melessa) gave him all sort of her old toys. He's going to have so much fun with them when he's a bit older!

New Business?

Photobucket

I'm thinking of starting up a very small home business doing:

- photo retouching
- announcement and card design
- album design
- marketing materials
- photography (I'm still an amateur and know I can't run with the big dogs on this, but I love it, and practice makes better (I never say perfect with things like this, haha.)
- web design
- pretty much anything you can design on a computer and give to someone, I'm willing to make. I already have my first wedding to photograph this summer and I'm super excited for that. I like to think my style is a lot different than others around the area and since I've never shot a wedding, I'm excited to see how my style pans out in this category.

I'd also like to start selling little things here and there on www.etsy.com. You can buy/sell just about anything handmade on that site!

This will probably be a few months away at least. I want to spend as much time with my little Singer as possible. He’s already growing so fast!

Our First Week

This past week flew by so fast. I never expected I'd be getting so much sleep! I'm getting more sleep now than I have in the last 10 months for sure. He sleeps through the night and I had to wake him up for feedings and changing. Last night for the first time, he woke up on his own around 4:00 AM. He wasn't crying, I just heard him singing and cooing, so I figured he must be hungry and boy was he! He slept again till almost 11 AM and was so hungry again. Funny boy! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect little man, God did good! I feel so blessed every time I look at him. Just knowing he is mine is an amazing feeling.

week_1_March_9_2011-25

I spent the past week or so cleaning, doing laundry and being spoiled by Ryan. He's so good about bringing me what I need when I need it. He's gotten up many times in the middle of the night to get me water and make a middle of the night breakfast. He rocked that crib out, and has made us dinner every night (well, really he's made dinner every night for the last 10 months give or take a time here and there when I felt up to it). He works hard to provide for his family and I am so grateful for him. I can't wait (well I can) to start bringing in some money again too. Not that we need it at all, I just like to feel I'm contributing. Plus our savings can keep growing, growing, growing if I'm bringing it a bit of an income.

Here are a few pictures showing how much fun we all had this week:
